Vintage Coat, Anyone?

Absolute gorgeous coats.  Too bad I can not fit any of them. : (
I have a few more that are waiting to be photographed.  Please give me your
input on these pieces.  Like? Dislike?  Some of them can use a little bit
of repairing.  Then they will be up for sale on Etsy.com

This is one of my many favorite pieces.  The fabric is brocade and the back has these cut little bows an the bottom of the strap (sorry I dont have the back view up).  Unfortunately, I don't know the time period. I hope that my fellow vintage lovers can help me out. : )

Mid-Summer

Wow! we are almost half way through the summer! And I have so much work to do. There are so many great projects on the table and of course my goal is to get the "all" done by September.

For you sewing enthusiast, September is "National Sewing Month" and in celebration of the event they are having a sewing contest - "Sew for the Love of It". I've decided to show my love of this great craft by designing a coat. The trick is to complete it by the start of the submission date: August 10, 2011.

Let's see what else is on the project table? O yeah. I have my decoupage handbags. I'm not too sure if these bags should be called decoupage...but, once I get them done and posted, maybe you all can help me with a proper name.

Starting in August, I will be getting my sewing kits together for Fall classes. I will be listing the upcoming classes very soon. They also will be in the Saratoga Springs School District Continuing Education Catalog. I think they get mailed out in late August/early September.

One more thing, I'm in the process of updating my website - www.lilacsandlavender.webs.com So if you shall visit in the meantime, please bare with me. I'm doing a new logo and adding/deleting some products.

Last, but not least, thank you all for visiting. And a special shoutout to all of my Twitter followers and the following. I'm slowing but surely growing and the daily words of inspiration that you all are tweeting ... it really encourages me to keep pushing on.

Stay Blessed.

Sewing Grove

Today (well...actually yesturday, now that it is 12:04am) I finally had a moment to sit down and actally work on some of my sewing projects. To help cut costs, I picked up several peices from one of the "free places" we have here in Saratoga Springs. Mostly skirts that are long and rather full at the lower portion. Since I've gained weight I had my eyes open for more circle and A-line style, so that I could use the bottom half of the skirt. I measure the length from the bottom of the skirt up to where I should cut (usually 24). It is a big help because the hem is already finished. I only have to re-create the waistline. And most of the time I use elastic, its easy and fast. :)

Fall Classes

I can't believe that it is already time to put descriptions together for my fall classes. As my mother use to say to me, "Time is not waiting on you girl. Get going." : )

Vintage Patterns

Maybe some of my fellow sewers & fashionistas can help me with the time period of these vintage styles. The first pic is McCalls 125th Anniversary pattern #7538, second is Simplicity's 60th Anniversary pattern #9560 & then another Simplcity 60th Anniversary pattern #9360 (wow, I paid .60 cents for this one).

SORRY ABOUT THE DARKNESS IN THE PHOTOS. I'M STILL WORKING ON THAT BATTERY FOR MY DIGITAL CAMERA. : )
